Here's a concept exploration for a more context based layout for Google map. Instead of showing a large map covering a large vicinity around user (which may/may not be very useful to them), I approach it from a more personalized map point of view.

Through learning from locations which user interested, events that user like and mode of transport that was usually searched, the app will be able to customize to a more relatable landing screen for user and help them to look for the location that they want to find, in less taps.

I also used a lot of vibrant color together with the light outline icons to make the usage of the map more fun and playful yet not too distracting.

Hope you like it!

Design thinking process
Empathize

• new user might not understand or have clear a direction how to use the map
• targeting traveler or user in need of directions in a foreign place who needs a fast and easy way to get direction and location information on the small mobile screen size and on the go

Define - problem statements

• front screen with a map with a lot of information with small text and icons is a bit overwhelming
• lesser taps to find a way to get to a specific location
• easier to know nearby place of interest without a lot of tap or manual search
